2008 CONFIRMATION CLASS

Eight young people are completing the requirements for confirmation.  In the Affirmation of Baptism they will conform their faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus on Sunday, April 27, 2008.  Each class member has been involved in various kinds of service and learning experiences.  These include ten hours of community service, serving as an acolyte; completing twenty sermon/worship reports, attending classes on Sunday mornings and three months of special learning sessions on Wednesday evenings, and the creation of a Faith Project which centers on the individual’s conformation Bible verse and reflects their faith relationship with Jesus.  The Faith Projects will be on display, Sunday, April 20, at the church. The following youth are anticipation this special day in their Christian life and faith journey:  Brittany Bohlmeyer, Chandler Brandert, Mallory Dorn, Tandon Dorn, Allison Evers, Megan Gronewold, Kyle Schoen, and Cassie Thornburg.

About Zion

If you do not have a church home, we encourage you to visit us.  We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the largest Lutheran denomination in the United States. If you would like to learn more about our congregation and its ministry, please stop by and visit us  at  the corner of 80th Road and Elm Road, or call 673 4325.

Zion has 133 years of history in the Pickrell area.  With over 600 members and more than 100 children in Sunday School, Zion continues to flourish with youth groups, men and women organizations, small group ministry, Bible study, choirs for all ages, and more.

In response to God’s blessing in our life and ministry, Zion strives to build around this theme:

GOD’S Family, GROWING in Christ, TELLING others, WORSHIPING Him, SERVING Others the Good News.

Whether in Tanzania, Africa, or Tennessee, or Western Nebraska, or Pickrell, our mission is to share the love of Jesus Christ.

We need to start planning now for the

135th anniversary of Zion (2009) and form a committee during 2007 for this great celebration of God’s work in this place;  Let us also continue to invite people (those who have been absent for a while  and those who have no church home to worship, to Bible classes, to small groups; and please pray for the whole ministry of Zion Lutheran Church.
